Fabulous Friday Feast Success

Camperdown Community House Fabulous Friday Feast 2

Fabulous Friday Feast Success

More than 100 people came together today to attend our Free Fabulous Friday Feast at Apex Park.

It was a great success and we’re already planning our next big community get together. A special thanks to all our helpers who made the day possible and to the Healthy Ageing Project for funding the wonderful food.

The Fabulous Friday Feast promoted healthy lifestyles for all ages, with young families, couples, singles and retirees all coming together to enjoy a healthy barbecue, baked potatoes, salad, fruit and some activities.

There’s movement at the station

Coordinator Cathy Keating said the day was another positive outcome for the organisation and local community.

“We’re on a bit of a journey ourselves to redefine what we are, what we do and how we do it and having Apex Park at our doorstep has been a real coup,” she said.

“We working hard to be more relevant to more people and we want to help our community grow and prosper.

“The Fabulous Friday Feast is an example of how our volunteers make a difference to their community through the delivery of many important services and initiatives.”

Camperdown Community House oversees the town’s Men’s Shed, Food Bank, Community Garden, Garden Club, No Interest Loans Scheme and Broadband for Seniors, in addition to IT classes, art workshops, a walking group, the Sugarloaf Shakers, creative writing sessions, playgroup and special luncheons.

“That’s some of what we do now, but we also welcome new and innovative ideas to grow our range of activities and services,” Mrs Keating said.

“Our community is full of talented people who can help us become an even more important place for people to come together to socialise, learn new skills and have some fun.”

The event was been made possible with funding from the Victorian Department of Health’s Healthy Ageing Project, which is auspiced by Corangamite Shire.
