COMMUNITY GARDEN WORKSHOPS 2018

“INTRODUCTION TO PROPAGATION”

THREE PART SERIES

FACILITATED BY WARREN FROM HARMONIOUS HORTICULTURE

Warren will be leading us through a three part series introducing us to the basics of propagation.

The series will cover an orientation to using greenhouses for propagation, sowing from seed, thinning/pricking out, and eventually planting the seedlings we have grown.

You are welcome to attend any or all sessions in this series; it is recommended that you attend all three sessions, as this will give you the holistic experience of growing and planting from seed, and Warren is a wealth of information and experience who will be able to answer questions and share information about other areas of horticulture you may be interested in.

Bring your own gloves. All other materials will be provided. Complimentary tea and coffee!

WHERE: Camperdown Community Garden at rear of Apex Park (Manifold Street)

WHAT TO BRING: gloves, questions, smiles and any refreshments you require

COST: $5.00 per session / $10 for all three sessions

THURSDAY 20TH SEPTEMBER – ANY TIME BETWEEN 3PM AND 6PM

PLANTING FROM SEED / GREENHOUSE ORIENTATION

This session will be run from 3-6pm – you are welcome to come along at any time during that period and Warren will provide one-on-one or small group orientations to using greenhouses for propagation and planting from seed. You will plant your own tray of seeds from a selection/range provided, which will then be stored in the community garden greenhouse until the next session.

THURSDAY 4TH OCTOBER – ANY TIME BETWEEN 3PM AND 6PM

THINNING / PRICKING OUT

This session will be run from 3-6pm – you are welcome to come along at any time during that period and Warren will provide one-on-one or small group orientations to the next stage of the propagation process. This is a propagation technique called “pricking out” of seedlings to promote their growth. Warren will also be discussing other relevant horticultural information and advice.

SATURDAY 20TH OCTOBER – 10AM to 12PM

PLANTING OUR SEEDLINGS!!!

This session is the last is this series, and we will be planting out the seedlings we have grown together. Those with community garden plots can plant directly into their plot, and those who do not currently have plots will be welcome to plant out the seedlings into pots to take home.

WHAT TO BRING: Picnic lunch
