22 Aug New funding and new open hours!
In May 2018 the Victorian Government announced it would be contributing $21 million in new funding to the Neighbourhood Houses Sector. As a part of this funding boost, the Victorian Government provided the opportunity for Neighbourhood Houses who currently receive less than 25 hours per week coordination funding to apply to increase their funded hours to 25 hours per week.
The Camperdown Community House applied for these additional hours to increase from the current 20 hours per week to 25 hours per week. We are thrilled to announce that we were successful in this application.
As of September 2018, our new opening hours will be:
Tuesdays 9am-4.30pm
Wednesdays 9am-4.30pm
Thursdays 9am-4.30pm
Fridays 9am-1pm
The community house will still be available for facility hire by community groups and organisations as normal, both during and outside of our opening hours.
Please keep up to date on the activities, groups and events we have running at the community house by visiting our “What’s On” page on our website and if you have any ideas about new activities we could introduce, or if you have any skills you would like to share through running a workshop, we would love to hear from you!
Another benefit of having more hours is that we now have new volunteering opportunities to come along with it. If you would be interested in front of house roles on Thursdays, or if you would like to volunteer to lead workshops or small groups on Thursdays, please get in touch on 5593 1403. The more, the merrier!
The Camperdown Community House is committed to providing a welcoming space for anyone in the community who wishes to participate or simply just visit for a chat and a cup of tea. We are excited about this new funding and what we will be able to develop for the community with the more time available. We are grateful to the Victorian Government and the Department of Health and Human Services for making this possible.
We particularly want to acknowledge and thank the Neighbourhood Houses sector in Victoria, Neighbourhood Houses Victoria and everyone who participated in the 2018 Budget Campaign to push for more recognition and support of our sector. Click HERE for more information about the campaign. We give a massive thanks to every volunteer, community member and supporter of Neighbourhood Houses, without you we would not be able to do what we do.
