14 Nov Local History Bus Tour Success
What an incredible way to conclude our local history series in partnership with the Camperdown & District Historical Society. We held the final bus tour of this series on Sunday 12th November.
At first we were not sure if we would be able to go ahead due to unforeseen circumstances impacting our illustrious keynote speaker and tour guide, Allan Willingham, which required us to postpone the Seminar part of this session. We are very lucky to have some incredibly knowledgeable local historians who were able to step up and fill in for Allan to lead the bus tour. We are all thinking of Allan and his fmaily at this time, wishing him a speedy recovery.
A huge thank you to Bob Lambell and Maree Baylea for putting together such a comprehensive and interesting tour of Camperdown’s historic buildings with such a wealth of knowledge and insight to personal stories of buildings that made it such an engaging and informative tour.
Special thanks must go to David and Penny Conn for welcoming us to Dalvui homestead and so generously providing us access to the incredible grounds and gardens for the afternoon, we were so fortunate for this opportunity.
Angela Preiss and Don Greive form the Twa Bards provided beautiful atmospheric music to accompany us while we explored the stunning property.
More thanks to the wonderful team at Mt Noorat Hotel for taking such great care of us for lunch, Cobden Coaches for providing such expert driving services as usual, and to Excuse Me Camperdown for stepping in at last minute to prepare afternoon tea packs for everyone.
While this is the last tour of this series, we will continue to work in partnership with the Historical Society to develop and provide events of this kind that celebrate local stories, history, knowledge and what makes where we live and work so special.
