09 Nov First Spring Fling Community Event
We held our first Spring Fling community event in APEX Park on Saturday 28th October.
The Friends of Mt Leura held their annual fundraising seedling stall, and Graham Arkinstall (Chairman, Friends of Mt Leura) claims it was a great success for the group, raising over $900 for the project. They still have a number of plants in the nursery for sale, so any one who is interested in supporting Friends of Mt Leura and the work they do for local conservation and environment education, and interested in purchasing local indigenous plants to beautify your gardens, please get in touch with Graham on 0418 377 293.
We brought the Swap and Share stall out from the community garden into APEX Park for the day, and had a huge array of donations from our members, including fresh vegetable, fruit and seedlings.
A huge thank you to the Camperdown Library for donating a crate of ex-library children’s books for families to take home on the day. We still have a number of books left over, so if you are interested in adding to your home library for your children, please pop in during our open hours to have a look at
the remaining books, you are welcome to take home as many as you like!
Lakes and Craters band performed for a short time in the morning, and sounded incredible as always.
We did not have as many families and children coming along for our famous outdoor games and craft activities as we normally do for our Family Fun Days in the park, but that only means we have everything we need already prepared for the next one, which will be our annual Easter Family Fun
Day in 2024, which will be held during the Easter school holidays, date to be confirmed.
A huge thank you to Merle Newling, Heather McDowell, Ellie Blackney, Kay Devlin, Lee Gasser and Wayne Blackney for their help on the day and making it such a fun event.
It was wonderful to team up with the Friends of Mt Leura group, and we hope to have future collaborations with them. You can view our ongoing partnership with Friends of Mt Leura in the Camperdown Community Garden Hub, the wonderful local Indigenous Plant Garden that includes seedlings grown and generously donated by Friends of Mt Leura. It is a beautiful garden and a testament to the wonderful work the group does for our community.
APEX Park is such a wonderful community space, and we look forward to hosting more community events that celebrate this fantastic local resource, we hope you can join us. To stay up to date on what’s coming up at community house, join our mailing list and follow us on Facebook.
