30 May Men’s Health Day a success
We had a great turn out of 17 people for the Men’s Health & Skills Sharing Information Day hosted by Camperdown Men’s Shed on Tuesday the 30th of May 2017.
Ellie from Camperdown Mental Health gave a talk about the early warning signs of ailing mental health. She explained the best ways to support a friend, loved one, colleague or community member who may be experiencing difficulties or concerns along with the support that is available through Camperdown Mental Health Services.
Penny from Manifold Place discussed the services and support provided by Manifold Place. Both Penny and Ellie explained the relevant referral pathways and processes available to individuals who are experiencing challenges. These avenues are also available to people who may have concerns about someone they care about.
It was a very successful event, and Andy (one of our Men’s Shed coordinators) did a fantastic job in organising the day. His passion for breaking the stigma of mental health issues in the community and for increasing awareness of the support that is available is commendable and we congratulate him for it.
Camperdown Men’s Shed has plans to follow on from this event by arranging other guest speakers to present at the Shed in the near future.
